RENO – The research team behind ClimateEngine.org unveiled their commitment to expanding the web applications unique role in helping the nation address water issues during today’s White House Water Summit held in Washington, DC, in conjunction with the United Nations World Water Day.

Research Scientist Britta Daudert from DRI, and Postdoctoral Fellow Katherine Hegewisch from the University of Idaho, software developers on the ClimateEngine.org project, attended the summit.

On Dec 16, 2014, we gave two different 20 minute talks on Climate Engine on the Google Hyperwall in the exhibits area of the American Geophysical Union (AGU) conference in San Francisco.

Mar 2015 - White House Climate Data Initiative includes DRI partnership with Google

In a White House press release launching the President’s Climate Data Initiative,  DRI was mentioned as a stakeholder in the Administration’s commitment to increase partnerships on climate change research. DRI’s role in the White House Climate Change Initiative falls under its private sector commitments. Researchers at DRI, along with colleagues from University of Idaho and University of Nebraska, will work with Google to create new web-based drought mapping and monitoring tools for the entire continental United States in near real-time and model water consumption by agriculture and natural vegetation across the globe.
