Data Tools for Drought, Fire, and Forest Management Applications

Background

This workshop session, led by the Climate Engine team, covered using Climate Engine API to easily access and analyze remote sensing, climate, and forecast data. Climate Engine Tools provide access to 115+ datasets, including remote sensing products and drought indices, and leverages cloud computing to allow users to easily create maps and charts. This four-hour introductory workshop for Tahoe basin practitioners focused on foundational information, hands-on demos, and decision-support workflows.

Workshop Session Outcomes:

  • Attendees are able to pull climate + remote sensing data via both the swagger page and programatically
  • Attendees know what datasets are available and where to find information on them
  • Attendees know how to navigate the API docs and select the right endpoint for the output of interest
  • Attendees know how to test requests using swagger page
  • Attendees complete demos with various endpoints
  • Attendees know how to find support articles and reach out to the Climate Engine Team
